I have a Diploma in Clinical Supervision and 6 years experience of supervising practitioners. I have supervised trainee and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists. I have offered supervision one to one and in groups, in private practice and within charity settings. I have worked with practitioners from different modalities such as CBT, Integrative, Art Therapy, Psychodynamic, Relational, SFBT and Person Centred.
As a Supervisor I aim to facilitate a safe environment to explore clinical work and any connection to the personal world of the practitioner. By personal world, I am referring to the practitioner as an individual who is involved in “relating”, within their work; where person and professional co-exist. Although every clinician is the essential tool in their work, it is also important to be aware of how each relationship within clinical supervision, the therapy room and wider systems, influence and have an impact on the other. I encourage practitioners to develop and maintain confidence in their work as well as allowing the space to explore inevitable fallibility (of both supervisee and supervisor).
