Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy

Honesty and trust are very important ingredients in a therapeutic relationship. I attempt to live in a mutually inclusive relationship with clients; one that is not just thought about, but also shared. I endeavour to take more relational risks within the therapy, all the while trying to accept my own fallibility. We are after all two human beings in a room; both therapist and client need to be fully present and willing to be open in order to have a respectful relationship.

I work with adolescents, young people and adults. One of the key things that I try to demonstrate to a person is their own ability to survive and be empowered; by increasing awareness of their own resources. I hope to have a genuine engagement with my clients so that individuals may feel more able to accept the parts of themselves that they find unacceptable. I work long and short term with clients, depending on what issues are presented, the requests of the client and what is safe for them. I can incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and other creative approaches in to my work.
